The SWO SERRC provides a variety of services to schools, families, and agencies in southwestern Ohio. Services are free of charge and include:

The SWO SERRC offers workshops, courses, interactive seminars, and study groups, which are published in a Learning Opportunities Calendar three times a year. Anyone--including parents, educators, and community members--is welcome at all learning opportunities.

Inservices also may be offered on-site in school communities.

  L o a n i n gR e s o u r c e s

The SWO SERRC makes available through its resource room a collection of materials related to current issues in education. These materials include journals, videotapes, audiotapes, and printed material. To locate specific items to meet your needs, you may call a SERRC Consultant. You may also find information about these items on the Medianet database at the Hamilton-Clermont Cooperative Association (HCCA) Data Acquisition Site (A-Site).

   C o l l a b o r a t i v eC o n s u l t a t i o n

Using a collaborative problem solving approach, the Educational Consultants at SWO SERRC consult with school districts, agencies, learners and their families to help improve educational results for learners.

Examples include:

  • Facilitating team development
  • Providing consultation around an individual learner's needs
  • Providing information and resources
  • Planning collaboratively for training needs

   T e c h n o l o g y

SWOSERRC provides the following services for families and educators:

  • technical support concerning assistive technology and Ohio technology initiatives
  • loan of equipment for assessment purposes including communication devices, adapted toys, switches, adapted computer peripherals, software, videos and books
  • technology lab for preview of educational software and equipment

Early Childhood Services provide assistance, personnel development, circulation of professional and instructional resources, and dissemination of information pertaining to the education of young children, ages 0-8.

   S u p p o r tf o rS t a t eE d u c a t i o nI n i t i a t i v e s

SWO SERRC is actively engaged in supporting the implementation of Ohio State Department of Education school reform initiatives. These include:

  • Intervention Based Assessment/Intervention Based Assessment Multifactored Evaluation (IBA/IBMFE)
  • Ohio Classroom Management System (OCMS)
  • Summer/School Year Institute (Building Inclusive Schools).

Training, technical assistance, and networking opportunities are provided for schools participating in these initiatives.
