The Southwestern Ohio Special Education Regional Resource Center provides a variety of workshops and learning opportunities. Courses are free of charge and are open to parents, family members, educators, and community members. Workshops also can be individualized to meet the needs of a specific school or district; these workshops can be conducted on-site in your school community or at SWO SERRC.

Jan. 11: Child Care First Aid - 6:00-9:30pm

Jan. 12: Communicable Disease - 8:30am-12:00 noon

Jan. 12: Child Abuse...Recognition and Prevention - 1:00-4:30pm

Jan. 15 & 22: I.D.E.A., Section 504, F.E.R.P.A. & ADA: Commonalities and Differences - 4:30-6:30pm

 


  Course Credit Information

  • Individuals may earn credit for many courses listed in the Learning Opportunities Calendar.

To determine whether a course is offered for credit, consult the individual course listing in the Learning Opportunities Calendar. Credit options are as follows:

(Note: Not all credit options are available for all courses.)

  • Graduate Credit/University of Cincinnati
Cost: For 2001-2002 school year - $228 per quarter credit hour in-state; $424 per quarter credit hour out-of-state. Grades are pass/fail only. Attendance is mandatory. Registration and payment for graduate credit must be made by the last session of the workshop series (check, money order, major crdit card). Please do not pre-register for these workshop series at the university.
 
  • Certificate of Participation
Processing fee: $5.00 per course, payable by check or money order. (Fee must be prepaid and included with your registration.)
The SWO SERRC will provide a Certificate of Participation for use with LPDCs and other licensing bodies. This certificate will include your name, district or agency, title of session, date/time/location, contact hours, activity description, objectives, and instructor. No Certificate of Participation will be awarded when university credit is earned.
 
  • Ohio School Psychologists Association MCE's (Mandatory Continuing Education)
Processing fee: $5.00 per course, payable by check or money order. (Fee must be prepaid and included with your registration.)
 
  • Child Care Inservice Training Hours
These inservice training hours are provided through the Ohio Department of Education Division of Early Childhood Education and the Ohio Department of Human Services for preschool and school age child care programs. No processing fee required.
 
  • Various other credit options
Offered when appropriate for a particular training session. Costs and requirements are listed with course description in the Learning Opportunities Calendar.
